Starting Anew

It's Spring, exemplifying the start of anew - new life and new beginnings.
It can arrive in all sorts of ways, such as the birth of new life, regrowth of plants or rewriting ones future.

We've had a few changes within the family circle, some joyous and others overwhelmingly bittersweet.

The birth of Cruz, my second grandchild was by far the highlight of the year not to mention a true miracle.
And although I often think about his twin that didn't survive, it breaking my heart to imagine the pain my daughter experienced, I have to keep reminding myself it wasn't meant to be.

Kenna must have overheard me and her father talking about that the other night (losing a child) and how something like that affects a woman.  He asked about the baby I aborted (not using that exact word) and even mentioning the name I unofficially gave her and while I was a little taken aback as to his asking, what surprised me even more was Kenna's inquiry the next day. Her asking me about "the baby" and why she's not here, telling me "Victoria" is a beautiful name. Talk about being disconcerted!
At least someone (those who truly care) have acknowledged her (fetus) semi-existence.

Things change, we move forward hoping for the best.

grassland behind mom's farmhouse
My mother's farm has been sold and although it's been a couple years since we've seen grazing cattle on the acreage (It had become too difficult for her to manage after the passing of my stepfather, although she did try)  I'm going to miss seeing the picturesque landscape view and enticing pear-shaped pond where the cattle once drank from.

Music is Universal

Music is universal.

Kenna received an Apple ipod for her birthday back in March, she's bugged me nonstop to upload music to it ever since it was gifted to her. And while she knows more about computers than  I or her father ever will know, not to mention how to get around on them (she's constantly being beckoned to come help one of us) she also knows she's not allowed to go on the computer unless she has permission from one of us and she's never to download anything.  Hence her constant nagging to me to download iTunes.

I finally downloaded it on my laptop recently (without having a few hitches, no surprise there. She even had to help me with that.) and she couldn't wait to start the music uploads. When I asked her what songs she wanted me to sync onto her ipod, thinking it would be some boy band like One Direction, (she thinks Harry Styles is dreamy) I was pleasantly surprised, then, somewhat shocked at her requests.

Without a single moment of hesitation her first requested upload was Vanessa Carlton's 'A Thousand Mile'
saying it was and always will be our song (She's my sentimental child).

But what surprised me and I had no idea she even knew who he was, was her second requested upload - John Denver's 'Calypso'.  She knows every word and every note to it.  Her telling me to listen to the words, it's a very "profound" song. Sometimes I wonder if she's actually a 10 year old.

So far there are only the two songs on her ipod.  And although I love to watch her dance around the house singing (loudly I may add) I have to say...I'm already sick of both of those songs. Even hearing her sing them.

It was a relief the other day to wake with an irritatingly catchy earworm of  "What would you do-Oo-oo with a Klondike bar."  LOL, I can think of a few things.

There is a Sun - Thank Goodness

The warm weather has finally arrived.
SPANK!
THE FIFTY SHADES PARODY

Mouse had the day off from school today and what a beautiful day to revel in and under the sun.

Hubby left for Connecticut late last night after I got home from my night out with the girls so Mouse (once again) was a little
low-spirited knowing she'd wake this morning and he'd not be here.

UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO
It was a long day trying to keep her busy and her mind off of missing her father.  And I can happily say it worked and it pooped her out to boot, not to mention me as well.

Thank goodness the sun decided to make a showing otherwise we would have had to stay in and clean the house (God knows it needs it). And I would have not only had to listen to her whine about missing him but hear her complain about picking up.

Now, whether the sun is going to cooperate and stick around, well, I guess we can only sit back and wait to find out.
